Daily Meal Service

Our Daily Meal Service enables clients to enjoy two freshly prepared meals delivered to their place of residence.

The main meal consists of soup, meat/poultry/fish, potato/rice/pasta and a vegetable. The tray lunch consists of a sandwich/hearty salad, fruit, dessert and snack.

Many clients require daily service, while others only require our minimum service. Meals are delivered directly to the clients' home, Monday to Friday between 11:00 AM-1:00 PM, and cover for the weekend with frozen entrees and tray lunches if required. The minimum number of days of service is three. 

A Registered Dietitian has reviewed the menus that rotate every five weeks. Up to 75% of a clients' daily nutrition needs can be addressed by our services. Our regular meal is low in sugar and fat, which is acceptable for most diet restrictions. We also accommodate the standard texture modification of minced and puréed.

While the large volume of meals we produce prevents us from catering to individual likes and dislikes, we may be able to make adjustments for allergies, religious restrictions and other special dietary needs. Please email our Dietitian or call 403-243-2834 for more information. 

Standard Meal Clients pay based on line 236 of their latest income tax return. A confirmation of this amount needs to be sent in to Meals on Wheels office by fax, mail or Meals on Wheels delivery driver.

Our standard and most popular meal service depends on 75 volunteers a day, delivering an average of 1823 meals to seniors (60+), convalescents and people with disabilities, living within Calgary city limits.  In 2008, our volunteers delivered 306,281 meals to 1859 clients at their place of residence.
