Event Coordinator – Maternity Leave 2019

Calgary Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit organization that produces nearly 3000 meals each day, more than 668,000 meals a year to Calgarians in need. While our well-known home meal delivery programs serve our principal clients; additionally, we serve families, school children and community groups.

We are currently hiring for a 6-12-month maternity leave contract starting October 14th, 2019 for the exciting role of Event Coordinator to work within our dynamic Philanthropy & Communications Team and report to the Philanthropy & Communications Manager. 

The successful candidate will be an outgoing, organized, detail oriented, resourceful, passionate individual with public speaking abilities and a minimum of 1 – 2 years’ experience within an events role. They must be able to work cohesively with community partners and volunteers. The Event Coordinator will coordinate and execute all Calgary Meals on Wheels external events to include third party events with our partners. In collaboration with the Philanthropy & Communications Manager, the Event Coordinator will develop the annual event strategy plan, establish measurable monthly and yearly targets for events & ensure the targets meet the fiscal objectives of the Philanthropy & Communications Department. This position may include other duties as assigned by Philanthropic & Communications Manager.

Requirements:

  • Post–secondary education in a related field; 1–2 years’ experience in events required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Confidence to speak in front of large groups

  • High level of professionalism a must

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and assume responsibility

  • Ability to develop, plan, and implement short and long-range goals and strategies

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and customer service skills

  • Clean driver’s abstract, police check and vulnerable sector search

  • Experience in fundraising or not-for-profit an asset

  • Experienced in securing, organizing and working with volunteers

  • Strong relationship building skills

  • Experienced in event budgeting

 At Calgary Meals on Wheels we value a casual, friendly environment that recognizes the importance of work/life balance. This role is 37.5 hours per week for 5 days per week. Typical hours will be worked between 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday but flexibility is required to accommodate the requirements of the job; specifically, evenings and weekends may be required from time to time.
