Hot Chocolate Fest returned in February 2019! This friendly competition saw participating cafés, restaurants and chocolatiers compete for the coveted award of YYC’s Best Hot Chocolate, Best Spirited Hot Chocolate and special Cup That Runneth Over Award. The winners in 2019 were:

The festival returned June 15, 2018 at Hotel Arts, raising more than $12,900 for Calgary Meals on Wheels! Thank you to the community for all of your support!
YYC Pizza Week
YYC Pizza Week returned in 2018 to great success! More than 40 Calgary restaurants participated, raising funds for Calgary Meals on Wheels in the process.
Pig and Pinot
Returned for the eighth time as some of the best chefs from Calgary and area competed for the coveted Divine Swine trophy. The event, hosted by City Palate, took place June 15, 2018 at Hotel Arts. Silent auction and wine raffle sales raised more than $12,900 for Calgary Meals on Wheels programming.
Don’t miss out on your chance for $2,000 worth of fine wines for just $20! Purchase tickets here. All proceeds support the nutritional needs of Calgary Meals on Wheels’ clients. The winner does not need to be present at the Pig & Pinot event to claim the prize.
YYC Hot Chocolate Fest 2018
A huge success, raising more than $30,000 – that is more than 20,000 hot chocolates! Sixty local businesses at more than 100 locations joined in the fun, which saw chocolate-lovers submit more than 2,300 ratings. Congratulations to the winners!

The Seventh Annual Pig & Pinot Festival
Presented by City Palate, this event was another success that raised over $20,000 for Calgary Meals on Wheels. Chef Robert Jewell of Double Zero Pizza won the Divine Swine thanks to his assortment of delicious pork dishes. Thanks to all our wonderful event volunteers who helped make this event a success!
YYC Pizza Week returned to Calgary
For the third year, offering pizza lovers delicious and unique pizza pie creations, supporting Calgary Meals on Wheels & 100 Men of Calgary
From Friday, September 23 – Sunday, October 2 the public visited various YYC Pizza Week Restaurants around the city, buy a pizza for $20 with $3 of every pizza going back to Calgary Meals on Wheels & 100 Men of Calgary. Over 40 of Calgary’s best pizza restaurants featured a signature pizza in one of four categories; Neapolitan, Thick Crust, Unique or Gluten Free. Congratulations to the following winners of each category:

Pizza & Pints Tour!
Pizza & Beer – a match made in gastro-heaven. So when we heard that Alberta Beer Week & YYC Pizza Week overlap, we knew we had to deliver to YYCs Pizza & Beer enthusiasts. YYC Brewery Tours & YYC Pizza Week celebrated Alberta Beer Week with the Pizza & Pints Saturday, October 1, 2 pm – 6 pm.
Pizza & Pints visited four YYC Pizza Week participants where 20 guests enjoyed the signature pizzas created for YYC Pizza Week alongside a paired craft beer! Guests visited Beer Revolution, paired with Brewsters Brewing Company; Cravings Market Restaurant paired with Big Rock Cider; Midtown Kitchen & Bar paired with Banded Peak Vienna Steam Punk; and Full Circle Pizza & Oyster Bar paired with Cold Garden’s East Calgary Lager! Pizza, Beer, and gift card prizes at each location! What better way to celebrate YYC Pizza Week & Alberta Beer Week?

Shaw Charity Classic!
A huge thank you to all who made the Shaw Charity Classic fundraising concession tent a wonderful success! As always, our volunteers are the backbone of our success as an organization and you continue to enable us to do wonderful things for our community. We are pleased to announce that we raised $3570.30 for our programs and clients from this fundraising event! One last huge thank you to everyone who volunteered. We showed our community a great example of the teamwork, camaraderie, and hard work that Calgary Meals on Wheels exemplifies every day to benefit our community.
Amber Approved Stampede Breakfast
July 13, 2016: Calgary Meals on Wheels celebrated Stampede Week with our great partner, Amber Approved, at her annual Stampede Breakfast! Guests enjoyed a delicious healthy stampede breakfast, awesome entertainment, all while perusing the silent auction and sponsor exhibits on display. Amber successfully helped us raise $2900 for both Calgary Meals on Wheels & YEG Fire Relief Efforts through the Red Cross. We love sharing our vision of nutritious meals for all Calgarians with Amber and can’t wait to work with her again soon in YYC Pizza Week!
White Jean Wednesday
On Wednesday, July 13th, 2016 join Stampede Directors, Life Members, Volunteers and Community Leaders for the third annual White Jean Wednesday in support of Calgary Meals on Wheels. White Jean Wednesday raised funds and awareness by asking both women and men to reach deep into their closets, dust off and wear white jeans in support of this great cause. Thanks to all staff who assisted in our promotional video, “White Jeans”, a mock parody of Jimmy Fallon’s “Tight Jeans”. A great day was had by all, and we raised $725 to support our programs and clients! Yeehaw!
Best Seat in the Parade Auction
June 23, 2016: The CBC’s Calgary Eyeopener annual Best Seat in the Parade package was auctioned to one lucky winner on June 23rd, 2016. All auction proceeds went to support Calgary Meals on Wheels.
Great Pie Chuck-N-Chomp
On June 24, we proudly partnered with Pie Cloud in presenting The Great Pie Chuck-N-Chomp!
This old fashioned, charming, messy event featured community members who participated in the Chuck [pie toss] or the Chomp [pie eating] features of the day. Spokesperson Dave Kelly welcomes guests and participants, who for the day were dubbed “Pie Chuckees” and “Pie Chompers”. Both groups fundraised for the event to support Calgary Meals on Wheels. We welcomed 12 Pie Chuckees including Janice Curtis, our executive director, who was pied by Frank through our staff draw! The winner of the Pie Chomp was Constable Scott McAllum from Calgary Police Services. Thanks to our amazing community members, we surpassed our goal of $3,000 for this year’s event, raising $5,400 in our first year of the Great Pie Chuck-N-Chomp! Thanks to everyone who supported by donating and helping out at the event.
6th Annual Pig and Pinot Festival
City Palate presented the 6th annual Pig and Pinot Festival, a fundraiser for Calgary Meals on Wheels, on Thursday June 16, at Hotel Arts. 11 talented chef teams competed for the coveted “Divine Swine” trophy, sponsored by Alberta Pork, as they created delicious and original dishes with free range pork from Spragg’s Meat Shop. And nothing pairs better with the perfect porcine than the perfect pinot! Five boutique wine stores poured an amazing selection of pinot wines from around the world. Guests enjoyed a great silent auction; a fine wine raffle valued at over $2000, Cappuccino King coffee cart, and live music from Rob Young and Simply Sinatra.
Gerbera Daisy Sales
In celebration of Seniors’ Week, Calgary Meals on Wheels sold beautiful Gerbera Daisies at the Suncor Energy Centre and the Kanahoff Conference Centre, from 11 am to 2 pm. Brighten someone’s day with a delightful daisy and support Calgary Meals on Wheels as they serve more than a meal to Calgarians in need. Thank you to all of those who supported us and bought a daisy, we sold over 300 flowers!
