General Kitchen Aide (Summer Student)
Calgary Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit organization that delivers approximately 3,000 meals each day, more than 668,000 meals a year to Calgarians in need. While our well-known Home Meal Delivery Programs serves our principal clients; we have three programs which serve individuals, families, school children and community groups.
We are currently hiring for the role of General Kitchen Aide to work within our fast-paced Production team and report to the Production Manager. The successful candidate would be an energetic, self-motivated, results oriented individual who can prioritize tasks, take direction well and adaptable to assisting in other areas as needed. This is a Summer Student job and the successful candidate must be returning to post-secondary education in the fall of 2019 to qualify.
The main functions of the General Kitchen Aide are to work with our meal assembly team, assisting in the preparation, portioning and packaging of client menu items while following established safe food handling procedures. The ability to work on a fast-paced production line is essential.
The successful candidate must possess a great attitude, be punctual, a real team player and comfortable working in a cold environment.
· Currently enrolled in a post-secondary school program
· Proficient in spoken English
· Previous Food Service Aide experience an asset
· Must be comfortable standing for long periods of time
· Preference will be given to those who have previous Food Safety Training
· Knowledge of WHMIS standards
· Clean police record
