Clients

  • We serve any Calgarian that needs our help - just give us a call at 403-243-2894. We have no wait list.

  • If you’re looking to have chilled meals delivered daily, or on a regular basis, and are excited to try our chef’s selections, then Our Chef’s Daily Special is for you! If you prefer to have more choice, are feeding a family, or do not require meals on a regular basis, our My Choice Menu is a great option!

  • For Our Chef’s Daily Special, the cost is based on your income. As a client, you can submit your income tax Notice of Assessment from Canada Revenue Agency to be eligible for a reduction in cost. For the My Choice Menu, entrees start at just $6.50!

  • The number of meals is up to you, from a minimum of three meals a week to seven days a week, with the option to add breakfast daily!

  • Our volunteers deliver meals to your door between 10:30am - 1:00pm Monday through Friday. Our Chef’s Daily Special clients will receive weekend meals on Fridays. For our My Choice Menu, you can choose whether you would like your order delivered or held available for pick-up; this choice is made upon checkout. Our free delivery occurs between 10:30am - 1pm, Monday - Friday. Pick-ups are from the Calgary Meals on Wheels main office (5759 80 Ave SE) between the hours of 7:30am to 3pm, Monday - Friday.  Orders placed before 12 pm will be delivered, or ready for pick-up, within two (2) business days. Deliveries are only made within the Calgary City Limits.

  • For Our Chef’s Daily Special, we can accommodate special diets on our Lunch & Supper Menu, including diabetic, low salt, heart healthy, renal, gluten-free, vegetarian-style, bland, and lactose restricted.

    We can also accommodate some food allergies and intolerances, some food preferences for personal, lifestyle and cultural reasons, as well as texture modifications.  

    Please note; the Breakfast Menu is only offered as a regular diet option.

    The My Choice Menu options can accommodate special diets, including diabetic, low salt, heart healthy, renal, gluten-free, vegetarian, and lactose restricted. Puree texture meals are available.

     Our Meals are produced in a non-nut free and non-gluten free facility with best practices in place to help avoid cross contamination.

  • You will need a microwave or oven to re-heat the meals, as well as a refrigerator/freezer. Please note, our My Choice Menu family-sized meals require an oven.  For re-heating & safe food handling instructions, click here.

 

Volunteers

  • Meal Delivery: Deliver meals using your own vehicle as a Meal Delivery Driver, or accompany one of our staff drivers on a downtown delivery route as a Meal Delivery Courier.

    Special Event Support: Help raise awareness by supporting our special events throughout the year. Assist with setup and takedown, and act as a representative of Calgary Meals on Wheels as you talk to visitors.

    Production Support: Each summer, we welcome volunteers into our kitchen to help prepare sandwiches for Stampede and GlobalFest volunteers.

    Day of Caring (for groups): Gather your corporate group, service group, or church group and take over a delivery route for a meaningful day of delivering meals in the community.

    Adopt-A-Route (for groups): Adopt a delivery route with your group and deliver meals on a regular basis.

  • Meal Delivery: Choose a consistent day that works for you or pick up spare routes as your schedule allows. The time commitment is 10:30am-1:00pm on your delivery day.

    Special Event Support: Occasional opportunities throughout the year. May require daytime or evening availability, typically in shifts of 3-4 hours.

    Production Support: A one-time volunteer opportunity available in July and August. Shifts are 3 hours.

    Day of Caring (for groups): A one-time volunteer opportunity on a day that works for your group. The time commitment is 9:30am-1:00pm on your scheduled day.

    Adopt-A-Route (for groups): Choose a day and frequency (eg once per week, once per month) that works for your group. The time commitment is 10:30am-1:00pm on your delivery day.

  • All volunteers must complete our application process, which includes an interview, reference checks, orientation, and training. Meal Delivery roles also require the submission of a Vulnerable Sector Check. To get the application process started, complete the volunteer application form. After reviewing your application, our Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement Coordinator will reach out to you.

  • Yes! Our Day of Caring program is your chance to get out in the community and deliver healthy, nutritious meals. This is a great way to contribute to the food security and well-being of fellow Calgarians. A fun teambuilding opportunity, a Day of Caring is great for church groups, corporate groups, or service groups.
